Pets like children should leave home at 18.


	Probably sounds mean but I think my cat has lived too long. She’s coming up to her twenty-first birthday (human years) and that’s well past our original agreement. She has never been a popular cat having been outclassed by her twin brother who was our number one cat. In fact the other cats disliked her so much they run a scheme that kept her in the stable for years. She has outlived all of them by 4 years becoming the number one cat. Surely that is enough for anyone! She has the best food, the most attention. We even follow her on her walks around the garden in 5 degree temperatures. But no! Just like an Eveready Battery she keeps going and going. The constant kitty litter, the “I’m bored with my food”, “I need to go out”. Even I had left home to give my parents a break by now. I decided not to have any more pets around 5 years ago. Just enjoy the ones I have and then not replace them one by one. Not they we really chose any of our pets. They were all strays or given to us and have been a delight over the years. It is just that that part of my life has gone (or rather I hoped it had) and the annoying nights seem to go on forever. Oh well. Time to clean the kitty litter bowls.
